What we store

Your account details (email, profile), and the requests, ratings, watch history, and support tickets you create in the app, are stored in a private database. Only you and household admins can see it.

Product usage signals

To improve recommendations, we record which titles you view, search for, rate, or request. This is stored in our own database and never includes the text of anything you type into chat or search — only that an action happened.

Which title was involved stays here. Our analytics provider, described below, is told only that an action of that kind occurred.

Third-party analytics

As of this update, MediaUnwired sends a limited set of usage events to PostHog, an analytics provider in the United States, acting as our processor under a signed data processing agreement. This section replaces the earlier statement that forwarding was disabled.

What is sent:

• Pages you view, clicks, scroll depth, time on page, referrer, and browser and device details such as screen size and browser version.
• That certain actions happened, with no content attached. The full list: a media request was submitted, onboarding was finished, a support ticket was filed, a card was opened, a watchlist item was added, a watch link was clicked, a taste rating was given, a "more like this" or "something different" was asked for, and a queue was viewed.
• An anonymous identifier for your browser, and — for the actions above recorded by our server — a one-way scrambled version of your account id. Neither can be turned back into your email or your name.

What is never sent:

• Anything you type. Not chat messages, not search terms, not support ticket text, not form field values, not passwords.
• Titles you searched for, requested, or rated. Those stay in our own database. PostHog sees that a request happened, never which title.
• Your IP address. Requests go through a relay we run, which removes every address-carrying header before anything reaches PostHog, and we tell PostHog to discard client addresses as well.
• Payment details, government IDs, precise location, or any account or admin data.

Session recordings are off. PostHog can replay a browsing session; we have it switched off on this site. If we ever turn it on, this page will say so before it is active, typed text will be masked in your browser before anything is sent, and it will never run on chat, search, support, account, or admin pages.

Your controls. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we detect it and nothing is sent at all. If you are in the EU, the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, nothing is sent unless you turn it on yourself — no analytics cookie or storage entry is written until you do. Everyone else can turn it off by enabling Global Privacy Control in their browser.

Retention. Events are kept for 12 months, and the anonymous browser identifier for 90 days. PostHog is a processor, not a partner: your data is not sold, not shared for advertising, and not combined with any other site. MediaUnwired is not directed at children under 13. To have your analytics records deleted, ask from the Help & issues page; we act on it within 30 days.

How your identity connects to your activity

Your login details (email, password) are stored separately from your activity. The recommendation and usage records described above are linked to your account by an internal id, not by your email or name — your identity is only attached to data where it's needed for login and account access, not carried into the usage records themselves.

Connection to your Plex server

MediaUnwired talks to your Plex server over your private home network, not over the public internet — that traffic never leaves your network.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your data. We don't use it for advertising. We don't collect payment details, government IDs, or precise location.
